Canon 7 bayonet Lenses

Canon 7-series 35 mm rangefinders, introduced in 1961 | 35 mm film rangefinder
Canon's 7-series rangefinders kept the Leica-thread (S) screw mount but surrounded it with an external three-lug bayonet. The bayonet carried lenses too large or heavy for the thread, most famously the 50mm f/0.95, and accessories such as Canon's Mirror Box reflex housing.
Lenses made for the bayonet do not fit screw-mount-only bodies, which is why the f/0.95 is tied to the 7 series rather than to Canon's wider LTM line. In this catalog the bayonet is kept separate from Leica thread mount so that screw-mount Serenar and Canon lenses are not mixed with the bayonet-only designs.
