Focus Mechanism

The patent prints infinity and 0.35 m spacings at wide, middle and tele; those six states are exact. G2 is the focusing group and moves objectward for closer focus. The intermediate zoom positions are an inferred reconstruction, not the factory cam: G3 is the variator, G2 follows a single-reversal law (imageward, then objectward, as claim 2 states), and G4 is solved for infinity focus at each position. Between printed stations the near state is solved for the object-to-image distance interpolated between the printed near states, which the patent labels 0.35 m. The marketed minimum focus distance in normal mode is 0.35 m; the macro mode is not modeled.
